I went to an estate sale and saw this 1981 Delorean in person on May 9th 2025 (my birthday) in Nashville, TN. I was over the moon excited. It was caked in a thick coat of dust. This DeLorean was owned by a lady (was a hoarder type, boxes on cars hood etc). Car was located in their basement/garage and it appeared been there for over 20+ years. Tires dry-rotted, rear louvre fins cracked in multiple places, car doors wouldn't open (broken key in passenger door), massive oil leak, slight crack in windshield, body intact with no signs of dents, and original NCT tires. The car had the square and circle key included. Overall needed a really good cleaning, regraining, interior detailing, full refresh/fuel system overhaul. We did not attempt to start the car due to not being able to get into the car, even if we could, would not be a smart thing to do. I spoke extensively with the brother of the late sister. Car still had the license plate on it and showed last registered in 1993. He mentioned car was purchased from a lawyer and his sister bought it due to liking "the car's flashiness", she was into attention. I told him, she had the perfect car for that! He mentioned he couldn't find the title for it but was sure he could apply for it since he was the executor. Additionally he said she stopped driving it due to receiving a new car and didn't think there was anything wrong with it but wasn't sure. It was under my calculated assumption that the car had not been driven since 1993. In the end I was outbit/out-dealed by someone that worked for the real estate company purchasing his late sisters home. I spoke with the seller post sale and he said the reason he went with them was because in addition to their company buying his late sisters home, they were going to take care of the title too (a combo deal). For some reason the seller wasn't into applying for the the title and found this convenient. Hoping the new buyer actually drives/cares about the car as much as I do. I thought for sure it would have been mine since I was the more liked buyer/fan of the car but sigh, the search continues!
